Recently attendeding the online event “How to Create Standout Personal Projects“, hosted by Creative Lives in Progress and Adobe Creative Apprenticeship (UK). It was explored the importance of self-initiated creative work. It showed how personal projects help emerging creatives develop portfolios, experiment with ideas, and build a distinctive visual identity.
The event highlighted how personal projects are often the most meaningful and impactful portfolio pieces. They allow creatives to freely explore their interests. This helps build both confidence and professional direction.
The session was hosted by Cyn Lagos, an artist, founder of Lagos Studios, and have the guest speakers Samuel Vigus, a Brighton-based visual artist and graphic designer whose self-initiated work draws inspiration from music, skateboarding, and counterculture, and An Chen, a London-based illustrator known for her bold geometric style and work across editorial, branding, and advertising projects.
