Creativity doesn’t happen in isolation. This past March, I stepped away from the class and headed over to the English and Creative Arts Employability Event at Edge Hill University.
I had the chance to hear from Kate Wilson, Danni Cash, and Ian Casey, three professionals who have navigated the messy transition from the studies to the industry. Their stories weren’t just about “landing a job”; they were about the grit and pivot points that define a creative life.
One of the best parts about the Edge Hill vibe is how breaks down the barriers between subjects. This event brought together guests from the media, the performing arts and creative writing, uniting disparate parts of the sector and bringing them together to form a broader picture. Each one shared valuable insights into their professional journeys and industry experiences.
More than anything, the event was a reminder to keep pushing my own creative boundaries and to be intentional about my professional direction.
In an industry that’s constantly shifting, these connections are valuable assets. It proved that wherever is your field of work, the core mission is: Stay curious, stay adaptable, and never stop looking.
